Day 2 :
MT. MERU

The day is spent exploring nearby Arusha National Park, the big game wilderness which surrounds the mountain. Lianas and other draping foliage cover the thick forests, interspersed by beautiful high grass meadows and a myriad of attractive streams and water holes. You are in charge of your game viewing, so you can go out all day with a picnic lunch prepared by the lodge, or you can return for meals. Overnight at Lake Duluti Lodge.

Day 3 :
TARANGIRE

After breakfast you leave Mt. Meru and head onto the great northern circuit. You'll pass through Arusha town with numerous opportunities for shopping, changing money or checking email. Arrive the luxury boutique Swala Camp in time for cocktails around the fire before a delicious dinner and overnight.

Day 4 :
TARANGIRE

Full day exploring this wonderful national park which in many ways is more like a southern than East African wilderness. Heavily wooded, this park has some animals not found elsewhere, like the roan and sable antelopes. But the park's principal attraction is its elephants, wilder and larger than those found elsewhere in East Africa. Your game viewing schedule is worked out with your driver/guide who will have the most current information about animal whereabouts. Meals and overnight at Swala Camp.

Game view the whole morning long on your drive out of Tarangire into the Great Rift Valley. Enjoy a picnic lunch just before exiting the park on your short continuing journey to Lake Manyara. There will be time to visit villages along the way, as well as browse the exciting Maasai market at Mto-wa-Mbu. Arrive at beautiful Gibb's Farm for dinner and overnight.
[b-l-d]

Dawn game drive in the Lake Manyara National Park when the chances of finding Manyara's famous leopard are best! This is also a wonderful time to experience Manyara's great forests awakening: the booming sounds of the black-and-white hornbill, and the squabbling of baboon just waking up. The shoreline is a veritable Disneyland of Africa, with hippo covered with exotic colorful birds. Enjoy a fabulous picnic breakfast along the lakeshore often within view of thousands of flamingos. Return to the farm for a late lunch and a free afternoon. Relax in this elegant surroundings or enjoy any of a number of activities the farm offers. Meals and overnight at Gibb's Farm.

Day 7 :
NGORONGORO

The morning is free at the farm. Among the many activities offered is a guided tour of the local township and school, participation in morning farm chores, a tour of the organic plots as well as the extensive flower garden, a visit with a Maasai shamaan or a walk with a ranger into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. After lunch at the farm we continue on a short and incredibly spectacular drive to Ngorongoro. See the magical rain forest of the crater rim as you continue to Tanzania's most famous and arguably its most luxurious lodge, Crater Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 8 :
NGORONGORO

Dawn game drive in Ngorongoro Crater National Park. This awesome geological wonder is home to as many as 20,000 animals in a relatively small 100 sq. miles. It is a wildlife paradise without equal, and the photographic opportunities of the world's largest caldera are unbelievable. You'll descend with a picnic breakfast and have 6-8 hours to enjoy this Africa "Garden of Eden". Return to the lodge for a late lunch, and in the afternoon you can relax in the beautiful surroundings of Crater Lodge or take a hike with Maasai in the nearby Endulen Hills. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 9 :
SERENGETI

This morning you continue around the magnificent alter-crater of Ngorongoro to begin your Serengeti adventure. First stop is Olduvai Gorge where so many precious finds of early man were found. Afterwards continue into the Serengeti National Park enjoying a picnic lunch enroute. Game viewing begins immediately and literally won't end until you begin your journey home. By evening you'll have reached your beautiful, exclusive boutique camp for dinner and your final two nights on safari.

You'll lodge at either Naona Camp (Dec - Mar) or Migration Camp (May - Dec). Your final two days in Serengeti National Park is designed to maximize your opportunities in this huge and highly seasonal park, where game viewing changes radically by season. Your route depends upon the whereabouts of the great herds of animals and the possibility of finding the Great Migration. Of course, nothing can be guaranteed in the wild. And besides the migration -- at any time of the year -- the Serengeti is usually the place for some of the most dramatic game viewing on safari.

Day 10 :
SERENGETI

As your final climatic day of game viewing begins, you may decide to visit the sacred Moru Kopjes of the Maasai, or walk on their fabled Meeting Rock and see ancient cave paintings. You might want to climb to the top of Naabi Hill and view all the Serengeti for hundreds of miles, or visit the very impressive Seronera Welcome Center. Many of our safaris find themselves among the great herds on endless plains with rarely another vehicle in view. Depending upon your location, you might even be able to hire a ranger for a safari walk or take a hot air balloon ride. Whatever you do, whenever you go, it's certain that your Serengeti experience will be the highlight of your safari, perfectly designed by season to make sure that no matter when you come, you won't miss a thing! Meals and overnight at Naona Camp (Dec - Mar ) or Migration Camp (May - Dec).
