Guided by EWT’s chief Arusha guide, Tumaini Meisha, this is Tanzania’s landmark safari itinerary, featuring the great Serengeti. The itinerary changes slightly over the course of the year in response to different weather seasons, but the core of the Serengeti discovery doesn’t change. The specific details represent the exact itinerary for most of the year and optimize your chances of finding the Great Migration.
In the 1960s the famous conservationist and former director of the Frankfurt Zoo, Bernard Gzimak, wrote the book The Serengeti Shall Not Die. The book was written in commemoration of the death of his young son, Michael, who was killed while taking an aerial animal survey of the Serengeti. And since then, the Serengeti’s principal scientific benefactor has been the Frankfurt Zoological Society.
Gzimak and the many who followed him worked in the great northern circuit, and this safari follows their trails. It begins in the lesser known parks near Arusha and ends in the Grande Dame, the Serengeti. This is a relatively short safari that provides exceptional value and a comprehensive experience.
