Shu'mata Camp is located in the high foothills on the western side of Mt. Kilimanjaro, deep in traditional Masailand overlooking Kenya’s Amboseli National Park. It is the sister camp to Hatari Lodge and may only be booked in combination with the lodge. The tents form a line on a hill that provides fabulous views in all directions.

When completed the camp will have eight large and spacious tents each with an ensuite bathroom colorfully decorated with local Maasai art. Each has its own veranda with fantastic views of the mountain and surrounding veld. Each is equipped with a dressing table, a Hemingway style hanging cupboard, bedside tray and nostalgic lockable trunk for personal belongings.

Located adjacent Amboseli, there is excellent game for traditional game drives, especially elephant. Local Maasai are involved with the camp's management and guiding and often lead walks and visits to nearby bomas.

The spacious, comfortable mess tent has a large dining table and a bush bar. At the front of the mess tent huge cushions provide the perfect spot to relax. Outside, under a great acacia tree the open fireplace adds a true feeling of adventure and safari romance.
