Samburu's first lodge remains its best, a large and friendly complex spread around two bends of the Ewaso Nyiro River on the north [Samburu] side. The age of the lodge has allowed beautiful huge stands of acacia and palm trees to shade the complex almost as if in a jungle.

There are 61 large rooms, some with balconies overlooking the river. Dining is in a large covered open-air hall facing the river and most meals are generous buffets. The complex also includes a large swimming pool and game room.

The lodge is famous for its "Crocodile Bar", a round bar built out over the river allowing for some spectacular game viewing.
