This popular mid-market camp bucks the trend in the Selous by not being located on the Rufiji River. In fact it's a day away, located in a beautiful stand of pristine forest at the park's northern border along the famous TanZam railway line. Some visitors arrive by rail from Dar, (an unreliable journey sometimes 12 hours long). Sable Lodge is the only property in this area which is near the Selous' northern entry gate. Modest bandas and tents with full facilities are set around and slightly into an escarpment near the forest. There is a swimming pool and large public deck area on which al fresco meals are served.
