Kenya's first tourist lodge opened in the early 1950s and has, of course, been rebuilt many times since. It is today a Serena Hotel property and one of the most loved on the circuit. Located in the giant Tsavo West National Park, it is among the most modest lodges on the circuit, with very compact rooms lined up in a functional stone building. Each room has a toilet and shower and small covered veranda. The lodge has a small swimming pool.

What the individual rooms may lack in size or decor is easily made up by Kilaguni's famous open-air dining area that looks out onto its always exciting water hole. Beyond is Mt. Kilimanjaro, creating what many believe is the most scenic lodge on the circuit.
