Gibb's Farm
Gibb's Farm
Located in Karatu about twenty minutes from the entry to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Gibb's Farm is a true, working and "green" farm which produces large amounts of coffee and table vegetables, much of which is purchased by area safari lodges and camps. The guest cottages were newly rebuilt in 2007 to provide a comfortable longer term stay for visitors coming to the "African Living Spa" and are now among the most luxurious on the circuit. All the food served in the lodge is grown on the farm. The lodge sits on a bluff that overlooks a valley just before Ngorongoro Crater, one of the greater views of any lodge in Tanzania. A number of organized activities are operated daily from the farm, including tours of the farm and of the nearby village and school, guided walks into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and guided bird walks.

The African Living Spa is a Maasai medicine retreat intended to attract westerners with chronic medical ailments that have not been satisfactorily addressed by their own doctors. Trained Maasai shaman, or medical herbalists, claim to successfully treat such ailments as psoriasis and migraines.
