Zambia
Slightly larger than Texas, Zambia's southern border is the Zambezi River. One-third of Victoria Falls is Zambian (at the town of Livingstone; two-thirds is Zimbabwean). There are just under 12 million residents, most centered in the capital of Lusaka or the important copper mining areas of the north that border The Congo and Tanzania. The wilderness and game viewing areas follow the Zambezi River to the eastern border with Malawi. The country is land-locked and dependent upon its neighbors for all its commerce. The country lies as far south of the equator as southern Mexico lies north, and its climate is as harsh in its thunderstorming summer (November-March), and mild in its winter.
