This small-group safari highlights Namibia's unique and fantastic scenery: the oldest desert on earth, the Namib; the great Etosha Pan National Park with game in abundance; the rough terrain of Damaraland including the rock paintings of Twyfelfontein and Namibia's coastal resort, Swakopmund. Also included a night at a spa, where you can pamper yourself with wellness treatments.    A visit to a native Himba village is offered as an optional excursion.

Day 1: WINDHOEK
Depart mid morning from Windhoek via the scenic and steep Spreetshoogte Pass to the beautifully setting of Namib Naukluft Lodge. Here, a light lunch will be served. During the afternoon, you have time to relax at the swimming pool and/or join a walk in the mountains. (Optional and if available: A flight in a light aircraft over the dunes at Sossusvlei.) Dinner and overnight at the lodge.  [ -l-d]
Day 2: NAMIB
NAMIB
After an early morning rise, you will be rewarded by the sight of the spectacular dunes at Sossusvlei. If you make the effort to climb one of the dunes, you will be impressed with a view of the dynamic and living desert. A full breakfast will be served under one of the camelthorn trees at Sossusvlei. Afterwards, visit Sesriem where centuries of erosion have incised a narrow gorge about I km in length. At the foot of the gorge, which plunges down 30 to 40m, are pools that become replenished after good rains. Sesriem derives its name from the time when early pioneers tied six lengths of rawhide thongs together to draw water from the pools. After seeing Sesriem, you will return to the Lodge for lunch. During the late afternoon, there is a sundowner drive to the natural marble mountains on the 25,000 acre private nature reserve. Dinner and overnight at the Namib Naukluft Lodge.  [b-l-d]
Day 3: SWAKOPMUND
After breakfast, you will drive through the Kuiseb Canyon and continue toward the coast to Swakopmund, a beautiful sea village. The drive along the Swakop riverbed stops at the wondrous "Moon landscapes," an erie landscape of red lava and yellow sandstone rock formations. Along the way, you will see the Welwitschia Mirabelis, an ancient plant endemic to the Namib Desert. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure and you can explore the little coastal resort on your own. Overnight at the Hansa Hotel or the Swakopmund Hotel.   [b- -]
Day 4: WALVIS BAY
WALVIS BAY
Mid-morning trip to Walvis Bay with a variety of optional touring available: (kayaking in the Walvis Bay Lagoon, quadbiking on the dunes, a boat trip from the yacht harbor, etc.) or you might enjoy walking along the lagoon to view the prolific birdlife including a huge population of flamingoes. You will return to Swakopmund in the afternoon to enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. (Optional: A sundowner flight along the coastline in a small aircraft) Overnight at the Hansa Hotel or the Swakopmund Hotel.   [b--]
Day 5: DAMARALAND
After breakfast, we drive along the coastline via Henties Bay and Uis to the vast regions of Damaraland. We visit the famous rock-engravings at Twyfelfontein and arrive at Twyfelfontein Lodge in the afternoon. The rest of the day is at leisure. The Lodge is situated in the heart of the Twyfelfontein Uibasen Conservancy and boasts 56 en-suite double rooms, reception, lounge, curio shop, open dining room, bar and swimming pool. In construction utmost care was taken to reduce the visual impact on the environment and to blend into the mountainside with the use of thatch roofs, natural stone and paint colors toning in with the surrounding rock formations. Day 6: KAMANJAB
After breakfast, you will drive to Kamanjab to the beautifully situated Huab Lodge. You will take part in some of the activities offered in this magnificent area where desert elephants are common visitors. A nature drive and birdwatching at Huab Lodge are unforgettable highlights. Your hosts, Suzi and Jan van der Reep are some of the most knowledgeable and well-known conservationists in Namibia and their love for nature will make your stay an unforgettable one. Day 7: OTJOVASANDU
OTJOVASANDU
After breakfast, you will depart to one of the lodges near the western side of the Etosha National Park, Otjovasandu. In route you may wish to do an optional side-trip (extra) to visit a native Himba tribe on a farm. During the afternoon, you could also join an optional game-drive. The rare Mountain Zebra and Eland antelopes are found in the area. Dinner and overnight at Hobatere Lodge or Kavita Lion Lodge.  [b- -d]
Day 8: OKAUKUEJO
After breakfast, you'll drive to the Etosha National Park. In route, you will visit the 'Haunted Forest' before arriving at Okaukuejo Restcamp for a glimpse of the waterhole nearby. Dinner and overnight at one of the Classic Camp or a privately owned Lodge just outside the Park.  [b- -d]
Day 9: ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, you will enjoy a whole day in Etosha National Park, with stops at various water holes in route to view game. This park is well-known for its huge herds of zebra and antelope. With a bit of luck, you should be able to spot elephant, lion and/or other predators. Departing the Park at the eastern side, you will overnight at Mokuti Lodge or Mushara Lodgejust outside the Van Lindequist gate. Dinner and overnight at Mokuti Lodge.  [b- -d]
Day 10: ANDONI
After breakfast, you will once again enter into the Etosha National Park and explore the 'Fisherman's Pan' as well as the north-eastern part at Andoni. You will then visit the historic Fort Namutoni and do some more game viewing at the water holes. Before sunset, you'll exit the park and arrive at Mokuti Lodge or Mushara Lodge. Dinner and overnight at Mokuti Lodge or Mushara Lodge.  [b- -d]
Day 11: DEPART
After breakfast, you depart to Tsumeb an old mining town. You'll visit the ethnological museum here and continue via Otjiwarongo to Okahandja, where we stop at the woodcrafters' market. You can do some shopping at the woodcrafters' market before we arrive in Windhoek during the later afternoon.  [b--]
