Wednesday, March 14
The day is free to explore Victoria Falls. You can walk from The Royal Livingstone or the Zambezi Sun down to the falls and transport is available from the Tongabezi River Lodge back and forth to the falls. A variety of additional touring can be purchased from the hotel tour desk. Popular activities include half- and full-day white water rafting; guided tours to the Livingstone Museum and Livingstone town; elephant-back rides in the Zambezi National Park; flightseeing by helicopter over the falls; microgliding and bungy jumping. To fully appreciate the falls it is best to walk over the Zimbabwean side over the great bridge that spans the Zambezi River. This is routine when conditions in Zimbabwe permit it. You purchase a visa at the bridge gate (as of March, 2011, this cost $30 per person). The bridge ends in Zimbabwe inside its Victoria Falls National Park. The park has a beautiful walkway through a rain forest opposite the falls. Two-thirds of the falls is on the Zimbabwean side; one-third is in Zambia. Overnight at your hotel. Day 1: DEPARTURE
