Mt. Meru Climb
Daily Departures

  One of East Africa's most beautiful volcanoes, Mt. Meru remains one of the least ascended high altitude peaks in East Africa. Yet it is both challenging and rewarding as a true climb, and takes less time and effort than scaling Mt. Kilimanjaro. It's an excellent addition to the start of any safari itinerary or even as a pre-acclimatization hike for Kilimanjaro.

Our comprehensive climb services includes a guide and cook, with overnight accommodations at park climbing huts along the route. Additional porters can be hired at nominal cost to carry virtually everything for you.

The prices include:
** A Professional Guide who stays with you throughout and manages the entire program;
** Comprehensive pre-climb literature to help you prepare for the trek;
** Private transfers;
** Accommodations as described below;
** Meals as detailed in brackets following each day's description below;
** All park entrance fees, VAT and other government taxes;

Additional expenses not included, estimated at around $200 per person:
- Meals not included;

Day 1: MERU FOREST
MERU FOREST

You are transferred from any point in Arusha or Kilimanjaro airport and driven to the Momella gate (1,500m) where the trekking begins. Follow the track through the forest and wild fig tree arch to a small clearing where you may see buffalo grazing and then continue across the Jekukumia River to the Njeku viewpoint for lunch. The scenery gets spectacular at this point and you can see far onto the eastern plains. Return to the track and continue to Mirakamba Lodge for your evening meal and overnight stay.  [b-l-d]
